What can I say October was a very fun month along with being a very sad month..... On October 15th SHARLA CARTNER turned 21 with a gusto!!! She got up at Sunrise on the 14th and went to bed on Sunrise of the 16th and it was a Non Stop Party Melbourne style... SHARLA and all her pals had a blast!!! It was great to meet CHRIS "TRASH" BRIGHT, CRISTINA TERZES ( a sheer delight), SHAR KANAN (who is a sweetheart!),and her special pal CHRIS ( cool Artist).... JOSIE COTTON came with a very special gift of a Leopard Briefcase that would make any Hip Executive envious..JOSIE are you trying to make me become a Repulikkkan?? She was so happy to chat with KATHY PECK and FAROH.. STACY TUTTLE made the mistake of politely asking the very courteous Waiter to please ask the Lounge Singer to turn down his vocals a bit because we were having problems hearing each other... Well, the irate Lounge Singer launched into a 20 minute tirade about in all of his 20 years performing he never once was asked to turn down... Tears flowing down his cheek while eyeing that 8 " Black Dildo that JOHN PAUL VERA ( who always rocks) had given me a bit earlier.. This guy was doing his best SUSAN LUCCI impersonation for that Best Daytime Actress Emmy !! At first everyone felt a bit bad - but after it went on and on - it became apparent what a drama queen this guy was... Young JORDAN TUTTLE took a 20 minute nap so he could dance with his older Thai Gal Pal from my last years Birthday Party.. And even she fell asleep during the lounge singers hissy fit.. It was straight out of a John Waters movie!!! We finally got a chance to hear JOSIE COTTON'S "Invasion Of The B Girls" CD.... ANDREW TUTTLE was so cute as he mingled with the crowd.. JENINE de SHAZER who was dazzling in her silver glitter false eyelashes gave me "The Neutralizer" which is to help keep neutralize hazardous cell phone radiation along with a pair of those really cool glitter false eye lashes that she was wearing..Her pal had to leave early but got to see JIMMY who came right after work at Baja Fresh..She gave me some delicious Banana Bread for my Birthday. STEPHEN LINSLEY and ATOM ELLIS also came a bit late. It was fun seeing ATOM again.. He is now living in Silver Lake..No more Haight and Filmore!! STEPHEN brought me a copy of WHITE BOYS "Pump Me Up" 12".... We all talked about the San Francisco days... But the highlight of the night was seeing CONNIE CHUNG working as an waitress at THE SIZZLER across the street. After the party at THAI PLAZA I hooked up with TAKASHI KAWASAKI who gave me a huge bouquet of flowers at Snow White Bar and Grill where we met for a nightcap... Sadly there was no SUZANNE TABATA or RANDY RAMPAGE at the party. However SUZANNE did call to let me know that she and RANDY were coming to LA the first weekend in November to shoot her documentary on DOA and Canadian Punk..... ZIPPY PINHEAD was recently in Downtown Los Angeles a couple weeks earlier playing a cooperate gig with the band he plays drums with... Will wonders ever cease ZIPPY PINHEAD doing a cooperate gig!! Speaking of Vancouver BILLY HOPELESS, DOUG DONUT and GERRY JENN WILSON did their annual CRAMPS tribute in honor of the late LUX INTERIOR... MARC FLOYD (THE FLOYDIAN DEVICE) told me that JP5 did a kick ass Halloween show in Surrey.. On October 25 there was a huge free Music WEST FEST in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park with with four stages and over 35 bands that played.. It was sort of like Woodstock.. DAVID DENNY was invited to play WEST FEST and had his son MASON DENNY and old pal GREG DOUGLAS who both live in southern CA come up and play Guitar with him in THE DAVID DENY BAND.. They had 3 blazing guitar players along with a kick ass rhythm section JEFF CAMPTELLA on Drums and BRIAH HOUGH on Bass, BYRON ALLRED was on Keyboards and CARLOS REYES played Violin... KATHY PECK, KATHY KENNEDY, CAROL BOZZIO, KATIE GUTHORN, KETA BILL, DARBY GOLD and DIANA MAGANO added their own special flavor doing back up-vocals for the Leon Russell song "Back To The Island" which DAVID dedicated to NORTON BUFFALO who has terminal cancer..... Each band got to play 2-3 songs apiece and all who came had a great time.. DENISE DEMISE, CAROLE LENNON and DIAMOND DAVE WHITAKER were front and center for the entire show.. CRAIG POP ARTIST was backstage snapping all sorts of photo's for DAVID and KATHY. I was so happy to hear my pall ANNIE SAMPSON also played WEST FEST.. I wonder if BRIAN HOUGH is related to DEREK and JULIEANNE HOUGH!! JESSICA DICKSON wanted to come but was unable to fly over from her new home in Italy.. Although she does hope to make it the NAMM Show this year and then after NAMM come into Hollywood and hang out with GINGER COYOTE and JOSIE COTTON along with KATHY PECK for a few days!! Now for the very Sad News death has taken it's toll again with the passing of BLUE CHEER Bassist DICKIE PETERSON and Promoter,DJ and Journalist - BRENDAN MULLEN.. BRENDAN was a beloved figure in the Music Community and there will be a memorial to celebrate his life in the next few weeks.. Please look for TEQUILA MOCKINGBIRD'S tribute to BRENDAN in this issue of Punk Globe... On October 19th former PUNK GLOBE writer ROSEANN KUBERSKI passed away from a brain aneurysm.ROSEANN aka "BIG RED" wrote the hilarious "ASK SONNY BONO" column for PUNK GLOBE when it was in print format in the 80's... Born in Indiana she tended bar at Chicago's first punk club O'Banions where she met her husband the late ROY HOLMES.. ROY was the Road Manager for FLIPPER at the time. They married in Chicago but they soon moved to San Francisco.. She began bar tending at the now legendary THE MABUHAY GARDENS. In the early 90's she and ROY returned to Chicago where she worked for Green Peace and then later tended bar at CLUBFOOT... ROSEANN will be missed by all who knew her. ROSEANN'S Sister KATHY had her cremated so there was no memorial but there was a celebration of her life on October 30 at Holiday Lodge in Chicago.. Check out the Tribute to ROSEANN also in this issue PUNK GLOBE... Comic SOUPY SALES also got his last pie in the face when he passed away on October 22 .. His sons TONY and HUNT SALES were both well respected musicians who played with IGGY POP and TIN MACHINE with DAVID BOWIE among many other bands.... And for our final bit of sad/bad news this month. We can't forget the family from Colorado who claimed their youngest son was inside a Jiffy Pop looking Balloon sailing high in the sky.. Causing all kinds of mayhem and wasting a lot of money trying to rescue the boy.. Turns out that the balloon was empty... The brat kid was hiding in the attic... Having seen the family on "WIFE SWAP" the only thing that I was wishing was that the Entire Family could have been sailing in that balloon.. They are all so annoying !!! In various interviews it became very evident this all was a hoax to get attention and a Reality Show... Now they are being fined to living lock down with JO - "THE SUPER NANNY" for 5 years...On to the real news-Rumors spread like wild fire about CHUCK BISCUITS passing away all over the Internet.. SUZANNE TABATA and RANDY RAMPAGE called to let me know that CHUCK did contact them - to let them know he was fine... I guess we will find out more DOA dish when I interview RANDY RAMPAGE for PUNK GLOBE... PAUL HAGGIS who wrote the Oscar winning film "Million Dollar Baby" and co wrote "Crash" has severed ties with The Church of Scientology because of their stance against Gay Marriage.. He is a very brave person...... I met a Woman who told me how she was terrorized by Scientologist for years after breaking away from them.. I remember THALIA DRORI telling me about a story when she was teaching film in Minneapolis One of her students got the chance to fly to Hollywood because a Film Studio was interested in hiring him... He was picked up at LAX in a large Black Limo with very very dark tinted windows and driven to a location.. He had no real idea where he was at and still does not know exactly where he was taken. He was given a tour of the film studios and was very impressed with the equipment. But something did not seem right... He noticed Movie Posters of JOHN TRAVOLTA and TOM CRUISE and the final give away was the name L Ron Hubbard . Wanting to find out more he asked if the Studio was involved with Scientology. They nodded yes and he was then asked if that bothered him. When he showed some reservations- without any hesitation he was ordered to get his luggage and shoved back into the Limo. He thought they were taking him back to LAX as they had bought him a round trip ticket. Instead he was driven to Sid Row in downtown LA and dumped off.. When he called the airline about his return flight home he was told it was no longer valid... They work fast. PUNK it will coincide with RUBY RAY'S PUNK PASSAGE. The event starts at 6PM at The Koret Auditorium at The San Francisco Public Library located at 100 Larkin Street in San Francisco, CA. Video's will be shown of JIM, CARROLL, THE CRAMPS, BRENDAN MULLEN, THE NUNS, UXA, SICK PLEASURE, THE MUTANTS, DILS, DEAD KENNEDY'S, MINIMAL MAN, SLEEPERS,CHROME and more... KATHY GRIFFIN was on The Tonight Show recently telling CONAN O' BRIEN that when she was auditioning to be on THE VIEW as a regular host (before the show chose SHERI SHEPHERD) - that BARBARA WALTERS would kick her under the table every time she would say something inappropriate and that she was beaten Black and Blue from the knee's down.. She felt just like RHIANNA and BARBARA WALTERS was her CHRIS BROWN... She also announced she felt her baby kick and mentioned that the Baby's Daddy was LEVI JOHNSTON..
