I rate Britt as a
lyricist and musician and with her debut album ´Blackout´
released a couple of months ago I thought it was time to
catch up with her to see what she´s up to. Most of you
know I rated her back in her teens as guitarist for
Canadian Rock band ´Live On Release´. Like Colette
Trudeau(Live On Release Vocalist) I´m glad Britt went on
to do her own thing. Anyway here´s what she had to say:
FFRUK: First off Britt can you introduce your backing band
to our readers?
Britt: My band right now is made up of 3 guys. Daryl Hood
on drums (23yrs), Howard Humenick on bass (20yrs.) and
David Dandy
on Lead guitar (22 yrs).
FFRUK: Blackout your debut album has recently been
released so have you had much positive feedback from it?
Britt: Everyone I’ve talked to seems to like it a lot. Its
been getting nothing but good reviews since its release.
FFRUK: So how pleased are you with the finished
product? Anything you´d like to have changed?
Britt: I’m very happy with everything. I couldn’t ask for
a better record. I would however like to go back and
re-sing it… my voice has changed a lot after being on
tour!
FFRUK:What inspired you to write the songs/music
for your album?
Britt: I tried to change my writing habits this time
around and lay off the whole “boy breakup” topic. However,
I did go through a bad breakup 1 week before writing it. I
managed to keep it to 4 songs about that and the rest
about more important things. I get inspired to write when
I know my album will be released very soon.
FFRUK:I know you had an excellent album with Live
On Release before Miss Lavigne but do you feel aware that
the press are always going to compare female artists from
Canada with her?
Britt: I really don’t care if they do. I guess its better
than being compared to Celine Dion!!!
FFRUK:So what you like doing most playing live
shows or working in the studio?
Britt: Playing live. I’m an entertainer and the reason I
write music is to tour!!
FFRUK: By the way do you still rock out with Bif
from time to time or are you just going to concentrate on
your own band?
Britt: I no longer play with Bif. But I’ll
probably open a lot for her in the future.
FFRUK: You´re 20 years of age and doing what most
youngsters dream of
doing so what have been your best moments so far?
Britt: Playing shows every night! I love playing at home
in Vancouver when it’s a huge crowd. Playing with the
Offspring and Billy Talent at the Plaza Nations was
probably my favorite show so far!
FFRUK: The albums out, so what are you up to for
the rest of 2005?
Britt: Playing shows and some more videos very soon!!
FFRUK: Anything you´d like to add?
Ya for everyone reading this… Go pick up “Blackout” in
stores now!!! And in stores in the US on January of 2006
on Bodog Music!!
Many thanks to Britt for taking time out do this
interview and hopefully very soon I should get hold of her
album for promotional purposes - The tracks I´ve heard so
far are well worth a listen. Check this lady out!
