THIS DAY
REMAINS
SELF RELEASED EP
by Charlie Millar

'The opening track, 'This Day Remains' is a true milestone for the
band of the same name. From the opening notes, it's clear to see how
this band had grown and matured over the past 3 years. The song is
tight, well produced and displays their instrumental and vocal
ability perfectly. It's hard to believe they are still at school;
their lyrics are far beyond their years.
'The View' picks up where 'This Day Remains' left off. The soaring
chorus and anthemic guitar solo prove that TDR have their own unique
style, but aren't afraid to take inspiration from the legends. It's
hard to think of a musical comparison, because they deliver
something so fresh, youthful and fun. Imagine Blink 182 when they
had a sense of humour, charged up with the energy of fresh new
talents like The Pigeon Detectives and Four Year Strong.
'Heaven Tomorrow' shows off what they do best; up-beat pop punk.
Sing along verses are shared between musically accomplished Phil and
Sam, this adds a frantic and exciting level to the song .It radiates
energy and passion; it's easy to see this band is a dedicated and
enthusiastic one. 'Lying in the Snow' flows in the same vein,
showcasing Phil's vocals and song writing against a pulsating and
infectious instrumental.
The EP finishes on a high with 'Night to Fall'. This song is a
triumphant 'told you so' to all the people who didn't believe
TDR
could pull this off. Harmonies combine with flawless guitars and
drums to produce a confident and independent song.
This EP is one to treasure, and this is a band to watch. It is a
staggering accomplishment for 4 young lads from a small town, lads
who have achieved at 15 what many artists can't in a whole career.
It is a pleasure to listen to people who simply love making the
music they make. When a band is as passionate as this, it's hard not
to be drawn to them.
