The Swinging Cheerleaders
Arrow Video/MVD
Blu-ray Review By: Jaime Pina

A strange item in the often-strange Jack Hill collection of gems, it has none of the quirky humor or offbeat subject matter of his early films and doesn't quite nail the tough street vibe he excelled at with the Pam Grier films. A quasi-sequel to The Cheerleaders, this film finds Hill tackling a bona-fide drive-in genre and pretty much keeps to the teen drama. A female writer for the college newspaper goes undercover and wins an audition for the cheerleading team to research a piece on what really goes on behind the pom-poms. It's a teen drama and comedy that looks at social issues as well.

Drive-in queen Cheryl "Rainbeaux" Smith (Lemora, Caged Heat, Massacre At Central High just to name a few) and Rosanne Katon (Lunch Wagon, Bachelor Party) play two of the cheerleaders dealing with cheerleader type problems like holding on to virginity and sleeping with one of the professors.

For collectors of horny drive-in fair and Jack Hill, the Blu-ray looks great and comes with plenty of extras.
