Night Of The Living Dead
Screamfest 2017
Oct. 19, 2017
TCL Chinese Theatre
Review By: Jaime Pina

In tribute to director George A. Romero receiving a star on Hollywood Boulevard, Screamfest hosted an evening of the late film icon’s work at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Screamfest is a festival every October that showcases films by new talents as well as screening classics and fan favorites. The festival came to a close with a Romero triple bill.

Walking to the far end of the Chinese Theatre the walkway that leads the Screamfest screening room features a backdrop for celebrity photos that is flanked by two imposing looking zombies. Since this year’s festivities also paid tribute to another fallen icon, director Tobe Hooper, the entrance was decorated in tribute to his film Funhouse that screened a few days earlier. The archway was a giant clown’s mouth leading to the door to enter the theatre.

Following the free screening of Romero’s debut film they screened the third film in the first trilogy, Day Of The Dead followed by Romero’s collaboration with Stephen King, Creepshow. The next Screamfest is scheduled for October 9-18, 2018.
