Faces Of Bayon are a down-tempo, psych metal trio out of Fitchburg, Massachusetts who take their name from those big stone grinning faces at the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. It seems fitting that a band who conjures eternal themes via religious mythology to offer a nod (no pun) to the ancient heads.

"Heart of the Fire" is solid recording, marked by the unique talents of vocalist, guitarist and kitten synthesist Matt Smith's alternately chantish and deep growling lyrical delivery, The harsh thudding bass lines of Bassist/Moogist Ron Miles and the well timed delays of drummer Matt Davis. All told, Faces Of Bayon are the sum of their parts. I tend to favor the energy and compression of power trios in general and am pleased to report that this release is no exception to my preferences.

Faces Of Bayon assembled in 2008 from ex members of Scattered Remnants, WarHorse, Twelfth Of Never and Engorged. "Heart of the Fire" is their first release set for a June 28th launch date on Ragnarok Records as a limited edition six panel digipack. Fans of Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard will definitely want to keep an eye out for this release and check up on their Facebook page for updates and tour info: https://www.facebook.com/facesofbayon.
