Interview With
Crystal And The Wolves by Steve DIY
Crystal And The
Wolves are a Pop band with bundles of imagination. I like the
diversity in both the
lyrics
and music that they write. They´re well worth checking out and am
proud to do this interview with them. Here´s what they had to say.
Punk Globe: First off can you introduce yourselves to the world?
Fil: Hello world!
Crystal: You weren´t expecting us but here we are.
Punk Globe: How has the ´Shapinska Rock´ EP sold and what have
the reviews been like?
Fil: We´ve sold several hundred at shows and on Cdbaby which is good
considering we put it out to spread the word about the upcoming
Shapinska Rock album. We´ve given away about 2500 copies of the EP.
Crystal: We´ve only been around since this May and our first published
review was by Steve DIY. The only other feedback we´ve gotten is from
people who have written us and so far the response has been
enthusiastic.
Punk Globe: You recently played a benefit for CBGB´s so how
did you get involved with that project?
Brian: Someone couldn´t do the show and the booker had heard our music
and knew we were on tour so booked us.
Punk Globe: You´ve got the album ´Shapinska Rock´ coming out
later this year so who´s going to release it?
Fil: We´re releasing it as a first release by Ears With Gears, which
is the home studio and label we run.
Punk Globe: What inspires you to write the lyrics that you do?
Crystal: Personal and global failures and the insights discovered each
time I attempt to overcome them. Whenever an idea that turns something
on its head pop up in my mind I run with it lyrically.
Punk Globe: So Crystal you took to the streets of Europe for a
few months so how did you feel when
Crystal: I´ve done it a few times now and each time I love it and make
great friends. The last time was really special because I had a guitar
with me and wrote hundreds of songs while traveling. I feel pretty
natural among Europeans and each new culture gave me new inspiration.
Punk Globe: How come you didn´t pop by my house when in
Europe?
Crystal: How come you didn´t invite me?
Well you´ve got an open one now:-)
Punk
Globe: What do you guys do outside the band to keep the roofs over
your heads?
Crystal: I work at a grassroots political organization called Clean
Water Action, and as manager of Ears With Gears I keep the gears
greasy and running smoothly.
Brian: I´m an independent licensed landscape architect.
Fil: I produce and engineer records in the Bay Area.
Punk Globe: Crystal, if Playboy or some other magazine came
along and offered you a photo shoot would you take part if it mean
publicity for the band?
Crystal: No, not into servicing curiousity about my birthday
suit...maybe if the shoot was for National Geographic doing some sort
of nature meets rock n´ roll article, and that´ll never happen. But
Fil might be down!!! Punk Globe: What expectations do you have in 2006 regards the
band? What are you goals?
Fil: Release Shapinska Rock in January, start recording the second
album, play shows...
Crystal: Build our local fan base, tour all over.
Punk Globe: Give 3 reasons why our readers should check you
out?
Fil: These songs will make you feel better than you did before.
Brian: Listened to carefully, the songs will make you think and expand
your ideas.
Crystal: We´re an unexpected sound.
Punk Globe: Anything you´d like to add?
Crystal: We´re here to stay awhile.
Brian: Feel free to get in touch with us.
Thanks to Crystal And The Wolves for doing the interview and
they really are a band well worth checking out.
