Four Track Mind (On Cassette)
By: Jeff Liberty
Mowery's 60 minutes worth of home recordings from 2000 - 2010 is a delightful Candy-coated road trip down a road that winds with innocence and cleverness with the emotional high's of a roller coaster at its Highest peak giving you butterfly's in your stomach, and lows that don't bring you down. Those lows are just the feeling of being content and in some cases falling into Puppy love romance.
The hissy tape is full of surprise gems that are at times fractured and beautiful all at once with an uncompromising artistry that is reflective of Mowery's past giving insight to a true original that shoots from the heart. A couple of the stand out tracks I love include "dark diary" , "The Black Path", "The night is so Long" which sounds like a lost early REM demo, and the song "2006" that would make Mark Mothersbaugh proud. I love this heartfelt, minimalist, quirky and catchy Cassette. It's a perfect soundtrack to a new season that is changing colours. A Gentle Lo-Fi music cure made for a World that needs something real and honest more than ever! NO nasty preservatives here...
