Weird Wisconsin:
The Bill Rebane Collection
Arrow Films/MVD
Blu-ray Review By: Jaime Pina

There has been a great movement among video companies to release collections by auteurs most people do not know of and probably would like to forget after seeing one of their films. Box sets featuring the works of regional filmmakers like Herschell Gordon Lewis, Al Adamson, Andy Milligan and William Grefe’ have all hit the market and sold well with collectors. Now, after some exposure on Mystery Science Theatre (the televised equivalent of the horrid Medfly Brothers) there is a box set collecting some films by Wisconsin’s Bill Rebane.

Rebane was known to H.G. Lewis fans as the original guiding force behind Monster A Go-Go, an unfinished film Lewis later completed and released himself. That film also got some press in the monster rags at the time and became known as a “turkey”. Rebane never really made his masterpiece but a couple of his films have gained him some notoriety. Those two films, The Giant Spider Invasion (featuring a real giant spider built on a Volkswagen chassis for mobility) and Blood Harvest (featuring Tiny Tim as a clown-faced killer) are not included in this set. Included for your pleasure are Monster A Go-Go, his Sci-Fi entries Invasion From Inner Earth and The Alpha Incident, two spooky tales The Demons Of Ludlow and The Game and a comedy called Twister’s Revenge. A multi-part documentary is spread over the course of the discs specific to each film presented and there is a bonus disc that will tell you everything you want to know about Rebane but were afraid to ask. Trailers, outtakes and galleries are also included.
