10 of the Best
by MCJ

Starting with the wonderful Ginger Coyote, your correspondents words in bold

1.What is the best view out of a window you have seen so far?

Ginger: One of the prettiest views was when WTD played in NYC and it was the first snowfall for the season... Such a pretty view because the Apt I was in was so toasty warm and the fresh snow was so white and clean.. A couple days later it was all grey and slushy...

I was sure it would be Japan, see how little I know!

2.What did you want to do when you left school?

Ginger: My main concern was leaving the State ASAP!!!  Iowa was such a repressing area to be fun . Neither love or money would bring me back to the Midwest to live..

Any one from Iowa care to send in fun things to do in Iowa?

3. Do you believe in destiny or do you think its happenstance you ended up where you are?

Ginger: I believe in reincarnation and that your soul lives 9 life's and with each life it is a learning experience.. I would like to think with age comes wisdom... Don't repeat the same mistakes over and over.

4.What’s pissing you off most at the moment?

Ginger: That Rosie O' Donnell is leaving The View... I will miss her so much, because of her right on the mark opinions and sharp wit... I enjoy Joy Behar alot but feel Rosie takes the feeling of the liberals and voices them.. I love it when she mentions impeachment of Bush and Cheney on the show and tell viewer's that if they want the real news to go to the Internet or other sources than the Network Television and the conservative owned media in the USA.. Joy and Rosie worked great as a team... Rosie leaving The View after Don Imus being fired sucks.. We are slowly loosing our rights to Free Speech...

5.if you could put one law on the books, what would it be? And do you think it would work?

Ginger: I guess my wish would be that the current Administration leave office before 2008.

6. Is now the best time to be alive? If not when?

Ginger: Being a believer in reincarnation means you get the perk of living in other time era's... Living now has allowed me to meet some wonderful people whom I respect immensely... It has also made me aware of corruption that goes on... I love the fact that we grow with every new invention and new things are being discovered daily.. But why so slow in finding a cure for Cancer, MS, AIDS and other plagues that have taken so many lives...And Global Warming is another issue..

7.When they make the film of your life so far, whose going to play you?

Ginger: Well of course I was hoping the fun and mis-understood  Anna Nicole Smith

8.In the pre digital days, when you could look through some ones record collection what would people find most surprising in yours?

Ginger: My Sonny&Cher , Led Zeppelin, ELO, Kinks, Ramones, Blondie,  Jayne County, Joan Baez, Joe Jackson, Bebe Buell, Joan Jett, Julie Brown, Judy Tenuta, Everly Brothers, Gene Pitney LP's

9. It’s 1973, your forming a ‘super group’, whose in it? And yes you all have to wear satin capes on stage!

Ginger: Jayne County, Joey Ramone, Billy Gould, Meri St. Mary, Nyna Crawford, Dave Gregg, Bebe Buell, Dave Dictor, Jello Biafra, Rosie O' Donnell, Julie Brown. Tina Weymouth, Roddy Bottum, Graham Maby, Dave Houghton, Gary Sanford, Joe Jackson, Lois Dolan, Tammy New Wave.... Brother Ed and Eve Bortz  would be doing the lights... We would all be wearing "Escorts of the 80's " arm bands ohh I mean " Escorts of the 70's...."

10.When is time to stop being a Punk Rocker?

Ginger:  Never as my friend Meri st. Mary said "WILD WOMEN DON'T DIE..... THEY JUST DYE THEIR HAIR AND GET WILDER.........

Note to self, watch out for Women buying hair dye!

And now Liverpool’s finest MDM  answered by Lead Singer Mandie Shaw :-

1.What is the best view out of a window you have seen so far?

it's gotta be when we was coming home from Prague and I felt the plane tip to one side, shit I thought what’s happening, wow look at that said Rob, oh my god I could swear I was looking up into space, there was a great expanse of clouds and then it went dark! I was terrified but it was awesome at the same time, by the way I am incredibly scared of heights.

2.What did you want to do when you left school?

My first thought was freedom....and then I had no ambition, I had no idea what I wanted to be, I just wanted to be off all the time and sing in the band, but sadly I needed money so I worked in shops for a while, that was a bit boring except for relax clothing co in Liverpool, that sold punk gear and I got to model the stuff, it was great. I got laid off from there and still had no idea what I wanted to do, so I got into weight training and taught that for a while, then tried office work...boring....ran a tea room...hectic....and then went full circle and ended up back in school which is where I still am now...still want freedom though.

3.Do you believe in destiny or do you think it’s happenstance you ended up where you are?

I believe in destiny and Kharma, most definately what goes around comes around, and if you do something bad it comes back on you 3 fold, I know that from experience, life is what you make it, circumstances can affect it but you can always change what is happening, you don’t have to put up with it. I believe in fate and that all things happen for a reason, sometimes it's not apparent at the time and sometimes it can be very painful, but there is always a reason why things happen to you and a lesson to be learned from it, all that happens to us makes us stronger. Life is not easy you have to work hard at getting the goals you aim for and sometimes along the way you realise that some goals were not meant to be and you change your path, but it is always you at the end of the day that makes that decision, you fight for what you believe in or you take the shit and crawl away to fight another day. Oh boy is that too deep?

4.What’s pissing you off most at the moment?

I have some situations in my life that are pissing me off, and I am working through them, deciding what’s best as it happens.

I am also pissed off that the band don’t seem to get recognised as much as I feel they deserve after 20 odd years of slogging around the punk scene, I feel sorry for the lads in the band, maybe if they were in a band with a male singer they could get taken more seriously? I get pissed off with the male dominated scene and feel female musicians should get taken more seriously. we need more female dominated bands, promoters, ‘zine writers...cos after all boys we are better than you.

Anyone car to comment on this ? As you’ll see most of the band’s interviewed here have female lead singers…..cos I think by and large they sing punk better……

5.if you could put one law on the books, what would it be? And do you think it would work?

Thats far too serious ha ha....but yes anyone who interferes with kids should be removed from society and not allowed to live where kids can come into contact with them, I strongly believe we should have the right to take the law into our own hands when kids are concerned .And yes it would work because we'd be doing society a favour. scum like that don’t deserve our pity.

6.Is now the best time to be alive? If not when?

Yes now is a good time to be alive, what with all the technology and change, but I wish I was younger because I could appreciate it more.

Does anyone under 30 appreciate the digital world, class please discuss ….

7.When they make the film of your life so far, whose going to play you?

Beki Bondage...ha ha because so many people think we are so alike! No seriously I really don’t know, probably Meryl Streep cos she plays everybody!

But it would be nice if it was Gwen Stefani cos she is beautiful and I would like to be depicted as beautiful, strong, fun and talented....cos films never really depict true life ha ha.

8.In the pre digital days, when you could look through some ones record collection, what would people find most surprising in yours?

You find all sorts of weird stuff in peoples record collections and they always have a good excuse for it.

Me well anyone looking through mine would probably be surprised to find stuff by The Monkees, Billy Fury, Elvis Presley, ELO....I have very varied musical tastes, most embarrassing would probably be the Osmond’s! well I was young once.

OK, no problem with any of it except The Osmond’s! As a teenager at the time of The Osmond’s mania, the sight of one more girl writing ‘Donny’ on her school books will send me off the deep end!

9.It’s 1973, your forming a ‘super group, whose in it? And yes you all have to wear satin capes on stage!

Bugger that I would hate to be in a dinosaur super group....ewe. Rick Wakeman and all that oh no thank you.

I’m sure Rick and the other talent less tossers are devastated ….
